Steven Gilbert

I write this as a personal description, as a fan and collector of black and white photography broadly and of Steve Gilbert's in particular.  I admired his photography long before we became partners in Global Artisan.  My regret is that websites, with their visual limitations, cannot do justice to his photographs.  They are provocative and imaginative, vivid, simple and sensuous.  They are different.

In viewing Steve's work, your curiosity and imagination are engaged.  You wonder about the subjects and about how his technique is accomplished.  Those questions often refer to photos that appear to be celestial images.  If you enjoy the puzzle, we won't interfere with your imagination here.  But if you want to know what is in the photos, contact us and we'll share his secret.  In other real life depictions, you'll find closely focused details of historic New England buildings that capture not only the evolution of aged architecture, but also the emotional connection of past to present.  "The Door Opens" is a simple glimpse of the light of the future.
