 Cela Neamtu Loom |
You will see Cela Neamtu's tapestry art in the United Nations. You'll find more of it in galleries and embassies throughout Europe. Yet she is generally unintroduced to the U.S. Global Artisan Showcase is proud to offer one of her tapestries, which is currently exhibited in The Textile Museum gift shop in Washington, DC..
Neamtu works in a small, unassuming atelier in Bucharest, Romania. She works alone and crafts only a couple of tapestries per year. Her work is exquisitely detailed. Her loom, pictured here, reveals a detailed original blueprint that plots virtually no two rows of wool yarn in the same color. She makes only one of each blueprint, then moves on.
Neamtu is sought after for commissions for galleries and luxury hotels throughout the world, but is largely undiscovered for her availability and affordability for home and corporate collections. She accepts custom commissions.
