Italian Ceramic Artist Antonio Navanzino
Antonio Navanzino is an Italian handpainted ceramic artist who comes by his loving dedication to historic Italian ceramic art honestly. He is the son of Francesco Navanzino, a highly respected and popular ceramics artist in the arts community in Caltagirone, Sicily. Antonio Navanzino is a professor of fine arts at the University of Syracuse in Sicily. He is a kind and gentle spirit who traveled from Syracuse to Caltagirone to graciously offer his translation skills so that we could communicate with the ceramic artists in his family. Antonio Navanzino made it possible to bring his family’s Italian ceramic art works to the U.S. and the worldwide web for the first time through Global Artisan Showcase. As translation skills are not easy to find in Caltagirone, we are grateful for his assistance.
Antonio Navanzino puts his knowledge of ancient Italian handpainted ceramic art to work by creating historically authentic ceramic art designs. As you walk through the cobblestone streets of the ruins of Pompeii, you can see the inspiration for the work of this popular ceramic artist in the homes of the time.
